According to online posts, Rosamond residents have been receiving phone calls from people conducting the surveys. In conflicting accounts of the calls, one resident states. “The surveys begin with someone stating that their company was contracted by Kern County to conduct the survey regarding RCSD and if she knew about them.” Another resident says, “I was told that the survey was being conducted on behalf of RCSD, Kern county wasn’t mentioned at all.” In either case, I fear we are being scoped again for a proposed property tax increase.
The company attempts to verify that the call recipient actually lives in Rosamond and is a registered voter. Then they proceed to ask if the call recipient was satisfied with RCSD’s effort in opening the pool and providing youth services.
The survey then asks if the call recipient would be willing to pay a little extra on our property taxes per month, approximately the cost of a coffee, to help fund the previously mentioned services.
Ironically, the surveyor then asked about the recent street lighting debacle. The surveyor asked if we felt it was handled properly.
At the end of the call, they just asked for the call recipient’s first name. No other information, (such as an address), was requested.
I certainly hope the RCSD isn’t wasting our money trying to adjudge the “Voice of the Community” for future political purposes.
The RCSD’s “unofficial mouthpiece” The Rosamond Report states, in an article entitled, “RCSD to re-open Williford Park pool this summer.”
The article reads, “After making contract changes and re-structuring funding of CSA’s Interim General Manager Ron Smith and RCSD Accountant Brad Rockabond reported Tuesday, January 5, 2016 that funding was available to re-open the pool. RCSD Board of Directors instructed Interim General Manager Ron Smith to take necessary steps to open the pool this summer.
Director’s MacKay and Shingledecker emphasized that Westpark residents were not to be charged to use Williford Park facilities, The tax assested [Jesus spellcheck please! assessed] to Westpark residents pay for operation and maintenance of Williford Park.”
It’s quite obvious to me that perhaps, the GM ahs used some of the political expertise to engage a professional survey company to conduct the survey under the auspices of “”necessary steps”… and the buffoonery continues.
